We are an American Tribal Style dance group based in Devon.

American Tribal Style bellydance (ATS) is a modern style of dance created by FatChanceBellyDance director Carolena Nericcio.
The dance format is based on traditional dances from India, the Middle East, Spain, Turkey and Morocco. The traditional steps have been modified and put into an improvisational group context to create a unique style with both a traditional and modern flavor.

ATS  is performed in a very proud and dignified manner with the main focus being on the interaction between a group of dancers rather than a solo performance. The dancers within a tribe learn the vocabulary of movements with set cues and formations and these movements are danced with the same structure and stylisation by all.
 To the audience watching often the cues and formations go unnoticed because of the elaborate costumes, fancy steps, exciting music and the sheer beauty of women dancing together.
The costuming for ATS really sets it apart from other styles of bellydance it is very eclectic. It does not represent any place or country, but it is very rich and ethnic looking. There is a great kindred spirit amongst ATS dancers which seems to reach across the ATS community not only in
the UK but all over the world!
When watching ATS being performed its best to allow yourself to see the whole picture, Women dancing together in co-operation; a group focused on presenting the dance as one entity.
